January 2017

Dear Marine Park Residents:

The Marine Park Civic Association was founded in 1926 to promote the mutual and general welfare of the community by securing the united action of all residents and merchants with matters pertaining to civic improvement.  We are a non-partisan, non-sectarian and non-profit organization.

We conduct ten monthly membership meetings per year (July and August excluded) at our “home” in the Carmine Carro Community Center, offering refreshments and door prizes.  Two of these meetings are party style with food and entertainment where you can get to know your fellow members.  These meetings are usually attended by various elected and government agency officials who address issues of concern and try to answer any questions you may have.  With your membership, you will receive ten monthly newsletters (either via email for a faster, enviro-friendly delivery or a hardcopy – you can decide below) to keep you informed of events in our neighborhood.  Additionally, you can reach us on our hot-line or website with any issues or concerns you may have.

While we sponsor many events throughout the year, we are best known for our legendary Fall Festival, the Thanksgiving “Great Turkey Givaway” and Santa in the Park.  If you are not familiar with these events, you don’t know what you are missing.

So that we may continue to serve you and work for the betterment of our neighborhood, we need your support.  The cost to become a member or renew your membership is $20 per year.  Unfortunately, we have had to raise the membership cost this year due to rising expenses.  We have been one of the few organizations who kept our membership dues as low as possible through the years.  The cost of printing and mailing the newsletter, coffee and cake at our meetings, holiday and end of year party, sponsorship of our annual events and working in partnership with other organizations requires funding.  Although we have been fortunate to obtain grants from our elected officials, at times the grants do not cover all the expenses.

If you are not yet a member, we urge you to return the attached membership form along with your check.  Of course, any additional donations are greatly appreciated.  To those of you who are already members and plan to renew your membership, we sincerely thank you for your continued support.  We ask everyone to help get the word out to your neighbors and try to bring in a new member.  Remember… there is strength in numbers.  We can’t do it without you!
